Tony Kusian Dumped Crystal Bowersox Before Idol Finale (PHOTOS, Video)

American Idol season 9 runner-up Crystal Bowersox has revealed that she and her boyfriend, Tony Kusian, who publicly supported her during the live shows, broke up right before the final performances on Tuesday morning (May 25).

“[My boyfriend] Tony, he went home. He wasn’t cool with the lifestyle,” the Elliston, Ohio, native revealed Thursday morning on Ryan Seacrest‘s 102.7 KIIS-FM radio show. (watch video below)

“We’re both logical, grown adults,” she said. “He’s a small town guy and it’s fine. But I’m a small town girl but I want this. I want this more than anything — this career, this lifestyle. I didn’t think he was up for it. He didn’t think he was up for it.”

According to Crystal, the decision to call it quits was mutual but the truth is Tony is a small town boy and he did not like her new superstar lifestyle. Kara DioGuardi advised Crystal to follow her dreams and find a man who can understand her and be with her every step of the way.

Crystal said, “I was a little sad that he did it on performance day, but then again it set that fire to my belly.” This clearly affected Mama Sox and she left her heart on that stage with three fantastic performances.

‘American Idol’ Names Ninth Winner; Says Goodbye to Simon Cowell

"American Idol" crowned the ninth winner of the FOX hit reality show on Wednesday, also paying tribute to judge Simon Cowell on his last night on the show.

Lee DeWyze was crowned the ninth "American Idol" and the 24-year-old former paint salesman from Illinois was immediately mobbed by his fellow contestants hugging him. "Idol" host Ryan Seacrest divulged that Lee was victorious over fellow contestant Crystal Bowersox by an only two percent margin.

"Oh my God," Lee said upon hearing the good news. "Thank you guys so much, everybody, I can’t believe this. This is amazing. I love you guys. Crystal, I love you. I’m just a happy man. I’ve never been happier in my life."

Bret Michaels Stuns Audience with Surprise Performance on ‘American Idol’

Less than one week after he was admitted to a hospital for suffering a "warning stroke" that led to the discovery of a hole in his heart, Poison frontman Bret Michaels made a surprise performance on Wednesday’s "American Idol" finale.

Michaels, along with former "Idol" contestant Casey James, performed the Poison hit "Every Rose Has Its Thorn." Taking the stage, Michaels received a standing ovation from the audience before he even emerged from the shadows. The "Celebrity Apprentice" winner recently grabbed headlines regarding his health, including a potentially life-threatening brain hemorrhage in April.

The resilient rocker also attended the "Celebrity Apprentice" finale last Sunday in New York City, just days after his latest hospitalization.

Latest News Update American Idol Winners Season 18:Tonight’s special 2-hour edition of American Idol was the 2010 season’s grand finale. It would mean the launching of a music career for the winner and the exit of the most famous of the Idol judges.

That departing judge is none other than Simon Cowell. He did get a bit emotional as he was payed tribute to throughout the night. There were various performances by the likes of Chicago, Michael McDonald, Janet Jackson, Christina Aguilera and Bret Michaels.

Even General Larry Platt and good ol’ William Hung showed up to perform. The American Idol winners for seasons 1-8 were in attendance for Simon. But we really want to know who won American Idol tonight – Lee or Crystal?

Latest News Update Beautiful Day Lyrics::Lee DeWyze sang the U2 song Beautiful Day on the American Idol 2010 Top 2 but it wasn’t a beautiful night as Crystal Bowersox seems to have taken her chance to climb the mountain and left Lee standing in the valley for the top prize. Only time will tell.

The song was picked for Lee by Simon Fuller so he had nothing to do with the selection. But he didn’t seem to rise up to the potential of the song the way Crystal did. The judges were well beyond criticism at this point but not one of them was overflowing with praise.
